NFL: Arizona 20, Washington 10

GLENDALE, Ariz., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Rookie Max Hall completed 7-of-9 passes for 126 yards and ran for a third-quarter touchdown Thursday, leading Arizona to a 20-10 pre-season win over Washington.

Hall's 6-yard scoring run with 4:22 to play in the third quarter gave the Cardinals a 20-3 lead en route to their third pre-season win in four tries.

Alfonso Smith scored on a 3-yard run for the Cardinals in the second and Jay Feely kicked two field goals.

Washington could not score a touchdown until Richard Bartel hit Terrence Austin with a 21-yard throw on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Derek Anderson, trying to become Arizona's starting quarterback, threw only three passes and completed two of them for 47 yards. John Beck, filling in for injured Washington starter Donovan McNabb and backup Rex Grossman, was 11-of-21 for 132 yards.

Arizona travels to St. Louis to open the season and Washington (2-2) will host Dallas.
