MILWAUKEE, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez and Chase Headley homered Sunday, sparking the San Diego Padres to a 7-3 victory over Milwaukee.
Gonzalez put the Padres ahead for good with a first-inning solo blast and Headley followed with a bases-empty shot in the next frame.
Miguel Tejada and Ryan Ludwick chipped in with a pair of RBI each for the the victors, who salvaged one win in a three-game series at Miller Park and improved their National League West lead over San Francisco to 6 1/2 games.
Jon Garland (13-8) survived a rocky start to pull out the victory, allowing two runs on eight hits in a 5 1/3-inning effort.
Milwaukee starter Manny Parra (3-10) was rocked for seven runs on eight hits in six innings.
Ryan Braun went 2-for-3, including a two-run homer.
