MLB: Los Angeles Angels 6, Kansas City 4

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Bobby Abreu went 3-for-5, including a homer, and drove in four runs Monday to power the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-4 decision over Kansas City.

Abreu pounded a two-run double in the second inning to put the Angels up 3-0 and added a two-run homer in the next frame to break it open for Los Angeles, which took the first of a three-game set at Angels Stadium.

Ervin Santana (11-8) won for the third time in four starts, giving up three runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one an struck out three.

Brian Fuentes nailed down his 22nd save of the year in the ninth despite allowing two runners to reach base.

Royals starter Sean O'Sullivan (1-3) -- obtained in a trade with the Angels last month -- was touched for six runs on 10 hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Yunieski Betancourt homered and drove in a pair of runs while going 3-for-3 for Kansas City.
