MLB: Seattle 3, Texas 2

SEATTLE, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Franklin Gutierrez had two RBI Tuesday, including a go-ahead solo home run in the fifth inning of the Seattle Mariners' 3-2 victory over Texas.

The Mariners ended their seven-game losing streak at the expense of the Rangers, who lead the American League West, and put their first runs on the scoreboard since Friday.

Chone Figgins had three hits for the Mariners, who outhit Texas 11-4. Ichiro Suzuki and Casey Kotchman had two hits apiece.

The overdue production carried Jose Vargas (7-5) to his first win since June 22. Vargas held Texas to two runs on three hits over six innings.

David Aardsma picked up his 19th save.

The Rangers have also been struggling offensively, with five runs in their last three games. Michael Young and Bengie Molina drove in the Texas runs on sacrifice flies.

Colby Lewis (9-8) was hung with the loss after giving up three runs on nine hits and striking out nine over six innings.
