MLB: Milwaukee 18, Chicago Cubs 1

CHICAGO, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Prince Fielder went 5-for-7 and drove in five runs Monday, leading a 26-hit attack in the Milwaukee Brewers' 18-1 pounding of the Chicago Cubs.

Casey McGehee homered and drove in four runs and Corey Hart celebrated a 3-year contract extension by going 4-for-7 with three runs scored for the Brewers, who pounded out 22 singles against the reeling Cubs.

Ryan Braun ended with five hits and two RBI and Alcides Escobar chipped in with three hits and a pair of runs driven in Milwaukee's epic rout.

Yovani Gallardo (10-5) struck out 12 Cubs in six innings, allowing two hits and one walk to help the Brewers take the first of a three-game series at Wrigley Field.

Chicago starter Randy Wells (5-9) was lit up for seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in four innings.

The loss was the sixth straight and seventh in eight games for the Cubs.
