MLB: Minnesota 4, Seattle 0

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano struck out a season-high 11 batters Sunday and the Minnesota Twins swept Seattle with a 4-0 victory.

Liriano (10-7) ran his shutout innings streak to 21 with the performance. He allowed only two hits and two walks in seven scoreless frames, leading the Twins to their eighth straight win and ninth victory in 10 games, including three straight over the Mariners at Target Field.

Jason Kubel pounded a sixth-inning, bases-clearing double off the right-center field scoreboard and then came in to score on Danny Valencia's RBI single to account for Minnesota's offense.

The Twins stayed a half-game behind the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central race with the victory.

Seattle starter Luke French (0-2) surrendered four runs on seven hits in six innings of work.
