ARLINGTON, Texas, July 25 (UPI) -- Ervin Santana held the hot Texas Rangers to two runs over eighth innings Saturday, carrying the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 victory.
Santana (9-7) won for the first time since June 27. He allowed two hits, walked two and struck out eight to cool off the American League West-leading Rangers, who lost for only the third time in 10 games since the All-Star break.

Jeff Mathis belted a solo homer in the fifth to break a scoreless tie. Alberto Callaspo added a pair of RBI for and Eric Aybar went 3-for-4 for the Angels.
Rangers starter Scott Feldman (5-9) was touched for three runs on seven hits.
Michael Young and Nelson Cruz went deep for Texas.
