LOS ANGELES, May 20 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run home run and had six RBI and Will Venable went 4-for-5 with four runs scored to lead San Diego past Los Angeles 10-5 Wednesday.

Jon Garland (5-2) struck out four and walked two in five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits in the first game of a two-game series between the Padres and the Dodgers.

Chase Headley added a solo homer for the Padres, who ended LA's nine-game winning streak.

Casey Blake went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and Xavier Paul added two RBI for the Dodgers, who were trying to win 10 games in a row for the first time since 2006.

Ramon Ortiz lasted just 3 1/3 innings, surrendering five runs on six hits to fall to 1-2.
