MLB: San Francisco 6, New York Mets 5

NEW YORK, May 9 (UPI) -- Aaron Rowand's two-run homer in the eighth inning rallied the San Francisco Giants to a 6-5 victory over the New York Mets Sunday.

Trailing 5-4 entering the eighth, pinch-hitter John Bowker coaxed a one-out walk off Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia (0-2). Rowand followed with his two-run shot to right center, enabling the Giants to salvage one game of their weekend series at Citi Field.

Rowand's blast came after the Giants starter, Tim Lincecum, and the San Francisco bullpen blew a 4-0 lead. Sergio Romo (1-3) earned the win despite allowing a game-tying, two-run single to Jason Bay and a sacrifice fly to David Wright.

Brian Wilson pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up his seventh save.

Ike Davis got two hits and an RBI in the Mets' loss.
