SAN DIEGO, May 6 (UPI) -- Ian Stewart hit a home run in the 12th inning Wednesday, lifting the Colorado Rockies to a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Tim Stauffer (2-1) pitched perfect 10th and 11th innings but took the loss when Stewart hit a 2-0 pitch over the left-field wall for his fifth home run of the season.
Manuel Corpas (1-1) pitched 2 2/3 innings of 1-hit relief and collected the win after snuffing out a 10th-inning San Diego rally in which the Padres had runners on first and second with one out.
San Diego used a 4-run burst in the fourth inning, with pitcher Clayton Richard's two-run double capping the rally, for a 5-3 lead. Colorado tied the score in the sixth when Clint Barmes doubled in one run and scored on a Seth Smith triple.
The Padres opened the scoring in the second with Kyle Blanks' run-scoring double but the Rockies jumped up 3-1 the next inning as one run scored on a bases-loaded walk to Melvin Mora and two more came in on a single by Barmes.
