Mayweather associate pleads innocent

LAS VEGAS, May 5 (UPI) -- A man described as a body guard for champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has pleaded not guilty in a shooting incident in Las Vegas.

Bail was set at $140,000 Tuesday for Ocie Harris, 27, who witnesses said was employed as Mayweather's body guard at the time of last August's shooting incident, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Harris is under indictment on two counts each of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, and one count each of carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

He is to go to trial Feb. 7, the newspaper said.

Harris is accused of shooting at a vehicle carrying Quincey Williams, 25, and Damein Bland, 36, as they drove away from the Crystal Palace Skating Center the night of Aug. 23.

Authorities allege Williams and Bland had been in a confrontation with Mayweather earlier over allegations of a threat the boxer sent to Williams via text message a few months prior, the Review-Journal said.

No one was injured in the shooting and Mayweather has not been charged.
