MLB: Chicago Cubs 11, Arizona 5

CHICAGO, April 30 (UPI) -- Alfonso Soriano hit one of four Chicago home runs Friday that powered the Cubs to an 11-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Soriano went 2-for-3 with 4 runs batted in, three coming on his sixth-inning home run. Kosuke Fukudome, Geovany Soto and Marlon Byrd each hit solo home runs for Chicago, which snapped a 3-game losing streak.

Randy Wells (3-0) got the victory after giving up eight hits and five runs over six-plus innings. He struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.

The Cubs got seven of their 11 hits and six runs -- only two earned -- off Arizona starter Rodrigo Lopez (1-1). Chicago was helped by five walks from Diamondbacks pitchers and three errors by the Arizona defense.

The Diamondbacks led 4-2 in the sixth inning but Lopez and first baseman Adam LaRoche bumped into each other trying to field a popup, with the ball falling for an error. That loaded the bases and Tyler Colvin delivered a sacrifice fly for the Cubs, a play that should have been the third out. Soriano followed with his home run and Chicago didn't trail again.
