ST. PAUL, Minn., April 11 (UPI) -- Jamie Benn's wrist shot in the fourth round of the shootout eluded Minnesota goalie Nicklas Bakstrom, giving the Dallas Stars a 4-3 win over the Wild.
Benn's tally was the only score in the shootout while Steve Ott notched two regulation goals and Brendan Morrow added a marker for the Stars, who won in what may have been the last game for veteran star Mike Modano.
While Modano, 39, hasn't made his retirement official, the franchise's all-time leading scorer has broadly hinted he will hang up his skates after completing his 20th NHL season.
Modano, who has the most career NHL goals of any U.S.-born player, was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1988, and the Twin Cities fans gave him a hero's salute during and after the game, when he donned a North Stars jersey as a tribute.
Mikko Koivu tallied a pair of goals for the Wild in the loss.
