Westwood leads Mickelson at Masters

AUGUSTA, Ga., April 10 (UPI) -- Lee Westwood's four-under 68 gave him a one-stroke lead over a hot-shooting Phil Mickelson Saturday after three rounds of the Masters tournament.

Westwood finished 54 holes at 12-under 204, taking the lead with a birdie on the 15th hole in his quest for a first major title.

Two-time Masters champion Mickelson, meanwhile, carded a 67 and notched back-to-back eagles at 13 and 14 -- only the third player in Masters history to record eagles on two straight holes. In a few short minutes Mickelson charged from five strokes off the lead to one ahead.

He dropped into a tie with Westwood, however, with a bogey on the 17th hole while Westwood's birdie at 15 dropped Mickelson one back.

Four-time Masters champ Tiger Woods stayed in contention in his return to golf after missing five months because of the scandal surrounding his marital infidelities. He birdied the last hole for a two-under 70, and finished tied for third place with K.J. Choi.

Choi also carded a 70; he and Woods will play together Sunday for the fourth consecutive round.
