NHL: Philadelphia 4, Detroit 3

PHILADELPHIA, April 4 (UPI) -- Kimmo Timonen registered a goal and an assist Sunday as the Philadelphia Flyers continued their playoffs bid with a 4-3 victory over Detroit.

Claude Giroux and Arron Asham also notched goals for the Flyers, who with the win moved into a tie with idle Boston for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.

They had entered the game tied with the New York Rangers for the eighth and final seed.

Dan Carcillo -- in his first game back from a two-game suspension -- also scored a goal and Brian Boucher made 31 saves for the Flyers in the win.

Dan Cleary had a goal and assist while Pavel Datsyuk and Darren Helm added tallies for the Red Wings.

The loss prevented Detroit from clinching a Western Division playoff spot. They remained in sixth position in the conference standings.
