NHL: Ottawa 2, Philadelphia 0

OTTAWA, March 23 (UPI) -- Brian Elliott stopped all 26 shots fired at him Tuesday, backstopping the Ottawa Senators to a 2-0 victory over Philadelphia.

Elliott, coming off a whitewash of Montreal Monday, notched his fifth shutout of the season and the sixth of his career while Chris Kelly and Daniel Alfredsson scored for the Senators.

With the win, Ottawa moved four points ahead of Philadelphia and the Habs, who are tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

The Senators went up 2-0 in the opening seconds of the third period when Alfredsson connected on a Chris Phillips rebound. Elliott then had to come up big to weather a 7-minute Flyers power play.

Philadelphia, which dropped its third straight and six in eight games, got 24 saves from Brian Boucher.
