Kurt Busch claims wild Atlanta victory

ATLANTA, March 7 (UPI) -- Kurt Busch rallied from fourth place into the winner's circle Sunday, coming from behind to claim a wild Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Busch took the lead following a first green-white-checkered attempt and then hung on after a second two-lap overtime finish to claim the win.

Busch was ahead in the closing laps, but Carl Edwards mounted a challenge when he bumped Brad Keselowski from behind, sending him flying upside down into the wall to set up the first overtime attempt.

As most of the leaders pitted for the last time, Clint Bowyer remained on the track and took over the top position. But Busch maneuvered past him and Paul Menard after the restart to reclaim the lead.

A seven-car pileup set up a second try under the green-white checkered finish rule, and Busch turned back a challenge by Matt Kenseth at the finish by a half-second, winning at Atlanta for the third time.

Kenseth finished second, Juan Pablo Montoya came in third and Kasey Kahne, who led the most laps with 144, settled for fourth. Paul Menard ended fifth, his highest-ever Sprint Cup finish.
