Verdasco, Gonzalez win at Acapulco

ACAPULCO, Mexico, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Top seed Fernando Verdasco, second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez and third-seeded David Ferrer were winners Wednesday at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tournament.

Verdasco, of Spain, was an easy 6-4, 6-3 winner over Pole Lukasz Kubot. Gonzalez, of Chile, eliminated Romanian Victor Hanescu 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-1 and Spaniard Ferrer easily dispatched Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 6-4, 6-1.

Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain, seeded fourth, dropped Russian Igor Andreev, 6-4, 4-2.

Nicolas Almagro of Spain, the sixth seed, beat Frenchman Richard Gasquet 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) and the seventh seed, Juan Monaco beat fellow Argentinean Juan Ignacio Chela, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
