NHL: Atlanta 4, Philadelphia 3

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Jim Slater's second goal of the game, coming with 6:32 remaining, finished off an Atlanta comeback Thursday and gave the Thrashers a 4-3 win over Philadelphia.

Atlanta faced a 3-1 deficit heading into the third period but the Thrashers put three shots past Ray Emery for their second straight win.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored unassisted 29 seconds into the third and Rich Peverley tied it 4:26 into the period. Slater's game-winner came on a slapshot, his seventh goal of the season.

Johan Hedberg, despite allowing three goals in the second period, got the win by stopping 34 shots.

Philadelphia dropped its second straight after winning three in a row. Emery made 28 saves and had a personal three-game winning streak snapped.

Atlanta has won both meetings with the Flyers this season after falling to Philadelphia 14 times in a row.
