NBA: Denver 124, Atlanta 104

DENVER, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- A 3-point barrage by J.R. Smith Wednesday helped the Denver Nuggets coast to a 124-104 decision over Atlanta.

The Nuggets improved the best home record in the NBA to 13-1.

Smith scored a season-best 41 points, hitting 10-of-17 from long range. Smith, however, made just 1-of-6 attempts from the foul line.

Carmelo Anthony added 24 points for the Nuggets, Ty Lawson had 16 and Nene scored 15. Denver scored nine straight points late in the first period to take a 10-point lead and Atlanta came no closer than six for the rest of the game.

Atlanta lost for just the second time in nine outings. The Hawks were led by 24 points from Jamal Crawford and 18 from Al Horford.
