Brian Boucher made 22 saves for Philadelphia, which snapped a five-game losing streak against the Islanders, who have lost 12 straight against their Atlantic Division rivals.

The win came after Philadelphia announced starting goalie Ray Emery would miss six weeks with abdominal surgery.

Islanders rookie John Tavares had a pair of power-play tallies in the loss as New York fell to 1-3-0 on a five-game road trip. The team said defenseman Brendan Witt played despite being hit by a truck in downtown Philadelphia Tuesday morning.

Carter made it 3-0 Flyers when he notched a power-play goal, and pushed the score to 4-0 3 minutes later before Tavares scored twice to cut the lead to two goals.
