NHL: Columbus 5, St. Louis 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 30 (UPI) -- R.J. Umberger scored a hat trick and the Columbus Blue Jackets ended a five-game losing streak Monday, downing the St. Louis Blues 5-2.

Umberger added an assist for a four-point game. Kris Russell and Antoine Vermette also had goals for the Jackets.

The last two Columbus goals, by Umberger and Vermette, were empty-netters in the closing seconds of the third period.

Columbus goalie Steve Mason stopped 27 shots.

Erik Johnson and Paul Kariya scored for St. Louis and Blues goalie Chris Mason turned away 22 shots.
