SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Alex Smith's two touchdown passes Sunday led the San Francisco 49ers to a 20-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 49ers' much-improved defense stalked Jacksonville quarterback David Garrard with a fierce pass rush despite his 307 passing yards.

Joe Nedney kicked two field goals, Smith completed 27-of-41 passes for 232 yards and the defense forced two Garrard fumbles for the 49ers (5-6), who also made six sacks in the second win in their last three contests.

Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 75 yards on 15 carries, Mike Thomas caught four passes for 62 yards, Torry Holt caught four passes for 50 yards and Josh Scobee kicked a 32-yard field goal just before halftime for the Jaguars, who had won three in a row.
