Halfway through the tournament, their totals, 9-under-par 135, top first-round leader Soren Hansen (71), Ross Fisher (69) and James Kingston (69) by one stroke.

Hansen lost a chance to make it a three-way tie, but double-bogeyed the 18th and final hole.

"I played a bit scrappy today," Strange said. "I got the ball on the greens and made some putts, which was good."

Strange, who is trying to win a second time this season, made six birdies and two bogeys Friday.

"It was a bit of a battle, but I'll take another 18 holes without a bogey," the 21-year-old Wood said.

Wood has made 15 of 19 cuts with seven Top-25 finishes this season.
