MLB: N.Y. Yankees 5, Chicago White Sox 2

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Robinson Cano's late three-run homer Friday boosted the New York Yankees to a 5-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

The homer, Cano's 21st, came with two outs in the bottom of the 10th.

Derek Jeter and Johnny Damon hit solo shots, while Damon and Melky Cabrera had two hits each for the Yankees, who have split their last four games.

The winner was Brian Bruney (4-0).

Chicago's Gordon Beckham and Alex Rios had one RBI apiece.

Jayson Nix had three of the eight hits for the White Sox, who have lost four of five.

The losing pitcher was Randy Williams (0-1).

New York starter CC Sabathia yielded two runs and eight hits in seven innings with a walk and 10 strikeouts.

Chicago's Mark Buehrle gave up two runs and eight hits in six innings.
