MLB: Atlanta 6, Florida 3 (10 innings)

MIAMI, July 30 (UPI) -- Brian McCann hit a three-run homer with one out in the 10th inning Thursday, giving the Atlanta Braves a 6-3 victory over Florida.

The Marlins lost for just the second time in nine outings and saw their lead over Atlanta for second place in the National League East cut to a single game.

Florida tied it with a two-run eighth, one of the scores coming on a homer by Cody Ross.

Luis Ayala (1-3) came on to work the 10th and gave up a leadoff single to Nate McLouth. After Kelly Johnson sacrificed McLouth to second Chipper Jones was walked intentionally.

That brought up McCann, who hit a 2-2 pitch out to right for his 12th home run of the season. Atlanta wound up loading the bases after McCann's homer, but Peter Moylan, the ninth batter of the inning, struck out looking to end the frame.

Moylan (3-2) worked the ninth to get the win, getting out of a jam when Brett Carroll grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Rafael Soriano gave up a single to start the 10th but then struck out the next three batters for his 15th save.
