Chalmers takes lead in PGA Tour event

MILWAUKEE, July 17 (UPI) -- Greg Chalmers fired a 3-under 67 Friday to take the lead midway through the U.S. Bank Championship.

Chalmers, seeking his first PGA Tour victory, completed two rounds at the Brown Deer Park course in 9-under 131. It is the first time in nine years he has led a tour event at the 36-hole mark.

Jeff Klauk, who shared the lead with Chalmers after 18 holes, shot a 69 Friday and was tied for second at 133 with Kris Blanks and Chris Riley. Blanks shot a 63, the low round of the tournament.

Steve Flesch, Kevin Na and Marc Turnesa were all at 134.

Flesch has won four times on the PGA Tour, but the rest of the top seven players have a combined two victories.
