MLB: Philadelphia 8, Pittsburgh 7

PHILADELPHIA, July 12 (UPI) -- Paul Bako's second hit Saturday, a ninth-inning RBI single, boosted the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-7 victory against Pittsburgh.

Bako's second RBI capped a five-run rally with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, when Philadelphia overcame a 7-3 deficit. One of three hits for Ryan Howard was a three-run homer with one out in the ninth, his 22nd this season.

Raul Ibanez had two hits and one RBI, while both Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins had two hits for the Phillies, who have won four in a row and eight of nine.

The winner was reliever Tyler Walker (1-0), who pitched one inning of scoreless relief.

Andrew McCutchen and Delwyn Young each hit a two-run homer, Garrett Jones had two hits -- including a solo homer in the first -- and Ryan Doumit had two hits and one RBI for the Pirates, who have lost six of seven.

The losing pitcher was closer Matt Capps (1-5).
