MINNEAPOLIS, July 12 (UPI) -- Carlos Gomez, Brendan Harris and Denard Span combined to drive in 11 runs for Minnesota Sunday, carrying the Twins past the Chicago White Sox 13-7.
Gomez whacked a three-run home run and totaled five RBI, Harris had a two-run shot and three RBI, and Span ripped a solo homer and drove in three runs.
Scott Baker (7-7) was the winner, working 6 1/3 innings. Baker allowed five runs and six hits.
Loser Mark Buehrle (9-3) was battered for eight runs and 10 hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Jim Thome hit a three-run homer for Chicago, which remains in second place in the American League Central Division, a half-game ahead of the Twins and 3 1/2 games behind front-running Detroit. The White Sox are 45-43, and Minnesota is 45-44 going into the All-Star break, while the Tigers are 48-39.
