Seattle's Russell Branyan drove in two runs with a third-inning double and a fifth-inning sacrifice fly as the Mariners won their third in a row.

The winner was reliever Roy Corcoran (2-0) after starter Garrett Olson surrendered just two earned runs and four hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings. He had five strikeouts.

Closer David Aardsma earned his 17th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Boston's runs scored on Jason Varitek's home run with one out in the bottom of the second, his 12th homer this season. He had two of the four hits for the Red Sox, who have lost four of five to Seattle in 2009.

The losing pitcher was reliever Takashi Saito (2-2).
