DENVER, May 31 (UPI) -- Adrian Gonzalez hit his major league-leading 20th home run Sunday to power the San Diego Padres past Colorado 5-2.
Gonzalez was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the contest. Scott Hairston added a solo home run for the Padres, who salvaged the final game of the three-game visit to Denver.
Chad Gaudin (2-3) went 6 2/3 innings for the win. He struck out seven while giving up one earned run and seven hits. Heath Bell collected his 15th save.
Jorge De La Rosa (0-6) gave up four runs on six hits and struck out five over five innings.
Gonzalez's three-run homer came with two outs in the third and put San Diego ahead 3-0. The Padres added another run in the fifth and made it 5-0 in the seventh when Hairston homered off Mike Grilli.
The Rockies got on the board in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of runs. Hairston dropped a fly ball that scored Garrett Atkins from third. Yorvit Torrealba followed up with an RBI single.
