New Jersey's Bobby Holik retiring

NEWARK, N.J., May 23 (UPI) -- Bobby Holik, who has spent most of his 18 NHL seasons with New Jersey Devils, plans to retire, The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported Saturday.

The Star-Ledger reported Holik, 38, wants to spend more time with his family at his ranch in Wyoming and at his home in Florida.

Holik started his career with the Whalers in 1990 after being a 1989 first-round pick by Hartford. The two-time All-Star spent 11 seasons playing for the Devils, two with Hartford, two with the Rangers and three for the Atlanta Thrashers.

This past season, Holik had four goals and five assists in 62 games. He has 326 goals and 421 assists over 1,314 career contests. While with New Jersey (1992-2002 and 2008-09), he helped the Devils to two Stanley Cup championships (1995 and 2000).
