SEATTLE, May 3 (UPI) -- Jose Lopez looped an RBI single to center field in the 15th inning Sunday, giving the Seattle Mariners an 8-7 win over the Oakland Athletics.
Seattle's Franklin Gutierrez got a leadoff single off Dana Eveland (1-2), who then committed an error on Yuniesky Betancourt's sacrifice bunt, putting runners on first and third. After Ichiro Suzuki was walked, Lopez singled in the game-winner.
The Mariners used seven relievers, with Jason Vargas (1-0) getting the win.
Eveland, who is normally a starter for Oakland, was called in for relief duty in the 15th.
Seattle's Mike Sweeney slugged a two-run home run and Kenji Johjima hit a ninth-inning solo shot to send the game into extra innings.
Jack Cust hit a two-run homer and Landon Powell added two RBI for the A's.
