MLB: Toronto 8, Kansas City 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 29 (UPI) -- Kansas City rode the strong pitching of Scott Richmond and effective bat of Vernon Wells to an 8-1 win over Kansas City Tuesday.

Richmond (3-0) surrendered just one run on five hits over seven innings. He struck out five Royals.

Wells drove in three runs to help the Blue Jays win for the fourth time in their last six outings.

Aaron Hill helped out with two RBI, while going 3-for-4. Marco Scutaro scored twice in the win.

The Royals got their only run on a David DeJesus RBI double in the fifth inning.

Gil Meche (1-2) was the loser, giving up five runs on seven hits and five walks in just 3 2/3 innings.

Kansas has now dropped three of its last four games.
