MLB: Chicago Cubs 11, Arizona 3

PHOENIX, April 29 (UPI) -- Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano got the win and went 3-for-4 at the plate in Chicago's 11-3 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks Tuesday.

Zambrano (2-1) homered and drove in a pair of runs while limiting the host Diamondbacks to three runs on eight hits in seven innings. He also struck out three and walked two.

Alfonso Soriano had a three run homer and drove in four runs for Chicago, who won for only the second time in the past seven games.

Josh Wilson, Chris Young and Felipe Lopez accounted for the Arizona runs. Yusmeiro Petit (0-2) was lit up for seven runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Chicago surged to a 7-0 by the fourth inning on Soriano's three-run blast in the third and four more runs in the fourth, including a two-run homer by Mike Fontenot.

Zambrano's RBI double and an RBI single by Soriano in the fifth extended Chicago's lead to 9-1. The Cubs added single runs in the next two innings on Zambrano's solo homer and an RBI single by Koyie Hill, who had three hits and scored twice in the game.

Arizona added a pair of runs to close out the scoring in the seventh on Wilson's single and an RBI ground out by Lopez.
