ATLANTA, April 16 (UPI) -- Cody Ross's three-run, second-inning homer Thursday fueled the Florida Marlins' 6-2 victory against Atlanta, completing a three-game sweep.
Ross finished with three of Florida's nine hits and his sixth-inning sacrifice fly gave him four RBI.
Jeremy Hermida's lone hit was a sixth-inning RBI triple and Alfredo Amezaga's only hit was an RBI single in the ninth.
Winner Anibal Sanchez (1-0) yielded two earned runs and eight hits in six innings.
Atlanta scored on Jeff Francoeur's third-inning single and fifth-inning double.
Garret Anderson and losing pitcher Kenshin Kawakami added two hits apiece for the Braves, who lost shortstop Yunel Escobar in the sixth inning to a strained abdominal muscle.
Kawakami (1-1) surrendered five runs, four earned and five hits in six innings with three walks and seven strikeouts.
The Braves went 6-3 against Florida at Turner Field last season.
