NHL: Phoenix 5, Vancouver 1

GLENDALE, Ariz., March 22 (UPI) -- Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 35-of-36 shots Saturday in the Phoenix Coyotes' 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Phoenix scored three times in the second period and once each in the first and third.

Daniel Winnik, Shane Doan, Ed Jovanovski (power play), Viktor Tikhonov (empty net) and Matthew Lombardi all scored once, while goalie Bryzgalov came within about two minutes of recording his fourth shutout this season for the Coyotes, who have won only three of their last 12 games.

They are 14th out of 15 teams in the Western Conference.

Vancouver's Alex Burrows prevented a shutout with his 24th goal of the season at 18:15 of the third period.

Roberto Luongo and Jason LaBarbera combined to surrender five goals on 39 shots for the Canucks, whose four-game winning streak ended.
