WBC: Italy 6, Canada 2

TORONTO, March 9 (UPI) -- Chris Denorfia was 4-for-4 Monday when Team Italy beat Canada 6-2 in the World Baseball Classic at Toronto.

Denorfia had three doubles for Italy, which will take on Venezuela in a Pool C elimination matchup Tuesday.

Alex Liddi added two hits and two RBI. Dan Serafini was the winning pitcher after giving up two runs on four hits and three walks in three-plus innings.

Justin Morneau was 4-for-5 with a run scored for Canada, which was eliminated from the Classic. Jason Bay added two hits and drove in both Canada runs.

Vince Perkins was the losing pitcher after allowing three runs on three hits and four walks in two-plus innings.
