NBA: LA Lakers 99, Memphis 89

LOS ANGELES, March 4 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant needed just three quarters to score 31 points Tuesday and lift the Los Angeles Lakers to a 99-89 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher and Sasha Vujacic also hit double figures for the Lakers, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Lamar Odom had 13 rebounds, eight assists and six blocked shots but hit just 1-of-8 field goal attempts.

Marc Gasol, Pau's younger brother, and O.J. Mayo led Memphis with 17 points each. Gasol also had 14 rebounds as the Grizzlies lost their eighth straight.

Los Angeles took control of this one early, using a 14-0 streak to forge a 32-19 lead after the first quarter. While the Grizzlies pulled to within 52-47 at the half and got within three early in the third period, the Lakers knocked them back down with an 11-4 run.
