DENVER, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Marek Svatos fired in two goals and assisted on a third Monday, propelling the Colorado Avalanche past the Calgary Flames 4-3.
Milan Hejduk and Ruslan Salei got the other two Avalanche goals that helped Colorado end a four-game slide. Peter Budaj made 36 saves for the Avalanche.
"This is just one win and we have a lot of catching up to do," Svatos said. "Right now, it's like the playoffs for us."
Rene Bourque, Adrian Aucoin and Jarome Iginla each scored for the Flames, who had a three-game win streak snapped. Miikka Kiprusoff made 38 saves.
The game was tied three times before Colorado got the game-winner when Svatos redirected a pass from Cody McLeod with 4:38 left in the second period.
Calgary took 13 shots in the third period, but the Avalanche played tight defense to hold on for the win.
