NBA: Detroit 98, Minnesota 89

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Rasheed Wallace scored 25 points, claimed 10 rebounds and recorded five steals Wednesday, leading Detroit past Minnesota 98-89.

Minnesota had won 10 of its 12 games in January -- the best in the NBA for the month -- before falling victim to Detroit's late rally and 23 free throws.

Allen Iverson contributed 19 points for the Pistons, who had lost seven of their previous nine games. Rodney Stuckey and Antonio McDyess had 14 each.

Al Jefferson led Minnesota with 24 points. Kevin Love scored 17 off the bench.

The Timberwolves led by five points midway through the fourth quarter, but McDyess gave the Pistons an 87-86 advantage with a jumper, Wallace hit two free throws and McDyess hit another shot that vaulted Detroit in front by five with 1:16 to play.

There were 22 lead changes and 26 ties in the game.
