NHL: Vancouver 5, Florida 3

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Pavol Demitra had two goals Sunday night and the Vancouver Canucks scored five unanswered goals to beat Florida 5-3.

Ryan Kesler had a goal and an assist and Kyle Wellwood and Darcy Hordichuk scored for Vancouver, which won for just the third time in its last nine games.

Cory Schneider was 18-of-21 in goal for the Canucks.

Jay Bouwmeester, Nick Boynton and Michael Frolik scored for the Panthers, who lost for the first time in their last four games. Craig Anderson allowed five goals on 30 shots for Florida.

Boynton opened the scoring at 4:02 of the first period and Bouwmeester put the Panthers up 2-0 three minutes later, but the Canucks cut the lead in half when Hordichuk scored at 12:42 of the first.

Vancouver scored four times in the second period and took a 5-2 lead into the third, when Schneider allowed Frolik's goal but was otherwise perfect to nail down the win for Vancouver.
