NBA: Minnesota 102, Philadelphia 96

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Randy Foye and Corey Brewer made two free throws each in the final 17 seconds Wednesday, allowing Minnesota to fend off Philadelphia 102-96.

It was only the second win of the season for the Timberwolves, who after capturing their opener against Sacramento had lost eight in a row.

Al Jefferson led the way with 25 points and Craig Smith scored 13 points above his season average with 21.

Philadelphia, which had won its previous three games, got 20 points from Andre Miller and 19 from Elton Brand.

Minnesota led by 11 going into the final quarter, but the 76ers closed within one with less than a minute to play. Mike Miller then gave the Timberwolves a 98-94 lead on a three-pointer with 50.4 seconds remaining.

After Brand brought Philadelphia within two with 18.4 seconds to play, Foye and Brewer came through at the line to clinch the game.
