EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Three touchdowns by running back Thomas Jones Sunday fueled the New York Jets' 47-3 decimation of the St. Louis Rams. It was their third straight win.
New York built a 17-0 first-quarter advantage when Jones scored once, Jay Feely booted one of his four field goals, and linebacker Calvin Pace scored on a 48-yard fumble return.
New York eliminated any possible suspense with a 23-point second quarter, which made its lead 40-0 at halftime.
Quarterback Brett Favre completed 14-of-19 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Tight end Dustin Keller caught six Favre passes for 107 yards with one touchdown for the Jets (6-3), who battle AFC East co-leader New England for the outright division lead Thursday night at Foxborough, Mass.
In a dismal team effort, quarterback Marc Bulger was just 6-of-13 for 65 yards, one interception and one lost fumble.
St. Louis (2-7) has lost three in a row.
