MLB: Boston 7, Toronto 5 (2nd game)

BOSTON, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Jacoby Ellsbury's go-ahead eighth-inning RBI single Saturday helped the Boston Red Sox beat Toronto 7-5 and gain a doubleheader split.

Ellsbury's second hit came with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, scoring Jed Lowrie from third base.

Lowrie had two RBI. Two others drove in one run and one run scored on Jesse Litsch's first-inning wild pitch.

Jason Bay and Dustin Pedroia had three hits each for the Red Sox, who trail AL East-leading Tampa Bay by two games.

The winner was Justin Masterson (6-4), while closer Jonathan Papelbon earned his 37th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Toronto got two RBI from Joe Inglett and one RBI from three others. Adam Lind had two of the seven hits for the Blue Jays, who have dropped two of three.

The losing pitcher was reliever Scott Downs (0-3).
