BEIJING, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Shawn Johnson of the United States won the Olympic gold medal Tuesday in the gymnastics balance beam competition.

All-around gymnastics champion Nastia Liukin of the United States took the silver and Cheng Fei of China the bronze.
