BALTIMORE, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Two homers by Kevin Millar produced three runs Friday when the Baltimore Orioles recorded a 9-1 rout of the Texas Rangers.
Millar hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to give Baltimore a 5-0 lead and his solo shot in fifth increased the lead to 6-1.
Ramon Hernandez, Brian Roberts and Juan Castro all had two RBI, with Hernandez hitting a pair of RBI singles. Melvin Mora and Luke Scott had two hits each and Scott scored three times for the Orioles, who returned home after a 5-4, nine-game, three-city road trip.
Winner Jeremy Guthrie (9-8) gave up an earned run and five hits in seven innings.
Texas' lone run scored on Travis Metcalf's fifth-inning homer. Both Metcalf and Marlon Byrd had two hits for the Rangers, who had split their previous four games.
Losing pitch Luis Mendoza (3-5) surrendered five earned runs and six hits in three innings.
