MLB: NY Mets 6, San Diego 5

NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Fernando Tatis hit two home runs and had four RBI Tuesday to lead the New York Mets to a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres.

Carlos Beltran scored twice for the Mets, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Dan Murphy got his first career double and the first RBI of his career.

New York's Mike Pelfrey (10-7) gave up two runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings. Pelfrey has won eight of his last nine decisions.

Jody Gerut was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer for San Diego, which has lost five of its last six games. Kevin Kouzmanoff and Adrian Gonzalez each homered for the Padres.

San Diego starter Chris Young allowed two runs on just one hit with five walks and five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Mike Adams (1-1) was the loser after giving up two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
