MLB: Philadelphia 2, Washington 1

WASHINGTON, July 29 (UPI) -- Brett Myers allowed just one unearned run in seven innings Tuesday in a 2-1 Philadelphia Phillies victory over the Washington Nationals.

Myers (4-9), in his second start since being recalled from the minor leagues, won his first game since May 30, allowing just four hits and a walk. Brad Lidge earned his 25th save in as many chances with a perfect ninth.

Chase Utley powered the Phillies' offense with a two-run home run in the club's third straight victory.

The Nationals, who were shut out in three of their previous four games, suffered their seventh straight loss. Rookie Collin Balester (1-3) took the loss after giving up two runs on six hits in six innings.
