MLB: Florida 9, Philadelphia 5

MIAMI, July 19 (UPI) -- Rookie catcher John Baker hit a three-run homer and knocked in four runs Saturday to boost the Florida Marlins past the Philadelphia Phillies 9-5.

Baker's blast in the bottom of the second inning was one of three Florida homers. The others were hit by Jeremy Hermida and Dan Uggla.

Jorge Cantu had four hits and two RBI and Cody Ross had two runs and three hits for the Marlins, who snapped a two-game slide.

Winner Scott Olsen (6-4) surrendered four runs -- three earned -- and eight hits in five innings.

Four relievers gave up one run and three hits in the final four innings.

Philadelphia's Pat Burrell launched two solo homers among his three hits in five trips. Three others had one RBI and Chase Utley added two hits for the Phillies, who had won five of six.

Losing pitcher Kyle Kendrick (8-4) was torched for seven earned runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings.
